They got their start as the backup band for Linda Ronstadt. You should give some of her songs a listen too. Another amazing artist across multiple genres.

I was in my mid teens in the 70's when Stairway was released with Led Zep 4 album. At the end of my first ever playing of this track I remember sitting there on the floor for about 10 minutes just staring at my record player . Not sitting on the floor much anymore but it still gets me all those years later... Really good and honest review young man , keep it up.

Yes, he was throwing picks away, if you go back and watch it again, you'll notice he has them taped to his guitar! I'm sure someone else told you about that by now, my favorite part is when he starts out almost spanking the guitar, his finger work is amazing! Haven’t listened to this song for a little while, I don’t know why not because it is great. I’m a bit surprised to see that Kanami is using the Addictone at this point, with Miku on the Zemaitis, that wasn’t quite how I remembered the time-line….

Dude...Tom Scholz, the founding member of Boston, created the guitar pedal and invented the computer diodes and transistors that went into attaching that by cable to the guitar, to achieve the sounds you hear. It was unprecedented..nobody in any band had what Tom created. A few years went by, and he patented the devices and they are still being manufactured today. He made millions off his inventions. The voices are all Brad Delp. There was no other vocals and Tom dubbed all of them in. Tom played ALL of the instruments and dubbed them in. The album was littererly produced in Tom's basement. When Epic Records signed them, thats when they started looking for additional band members who listened to the demos and had to copy the style of Tom's production. It was a masterpiece and all done without the record label knowing how it was produced. Tom also produced the spacecraft sounds you hear in the album and songs by then at that time state of the art electronics. Tom also wrote all the lyrics to the songs on the debut album. It was genius...it was a masterpiece..and has stood the changes of time and continues to get air time and played in homes all across the world. Tom Scholz is still alive, he is 78 and is enjoying his life. There will never be another Boston...ever..just like Michael...never will there be another Michael. The 70's and the 80's were the absolute best time for music to explode and to capture the soul of the beat for people world wide to enjoy.

Great commentary! From the same concert, check out "Take It Easy" (sung by Glenn Frey) and "Take it to the Limit" sung by bassist Randy Meisner. They are also great performances. You know they're great when they sound just as good live as they do in the studio.

On the, universe travelling, spaceship Voyager, the 45rpm vinyl and a turntable to play it, in case some other people out there come upon it. Chuck is a Rock n Roll Icon. He, Elvis and Buddy Holly are credited with creating Rock n Roll. In the 70s, as you said, the "Roll" was dropped. Today's Rock is a different animal from Rock n Roll.

It is an orchestra - the London Symphony Orchestra. John wanted to end the song with “a sound like the end of the world”. Paul encouraged the musicians to start at the very lowest note of their instruments and go all the way up to the highest note, not something classical musicians were accustomed to doing. It was so effective they used it to also join up the two parts of the song. I hope the poster does some research into the song. Among other things, he’ll learn that it was banned by the BBC for the lyric, “I’d love to turn you on.” A lot to unpack, indeed.
